Of the four C's, the cut (also called 'the make') is the 'C' that determines the brilliance and sparkle of your diamond. Quality and craftsmanship can mean the difference between a positively radiant, lively diamond and a lifeless, lackluster stone.

Diamonds have more value if they are cut to maximize their brilliance, not their size. In fact, a poor cut can make even a perfect diamond look dull.

The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. The word 'carat' comes from the carob tree. When diamonds were first discovered in India around 500 B.C., carob seeds were the standard unit of weight because their weight was so uniform.

A diamond's color has a great impact on its cost. The best color is no color, and truly 'colorless' diamonds are very rare and expensive.
diamond color Because light passes through them more easily (like sun through a clean window), colorless diamonds emit maximum sparkle and flair, a veritable rainbow of colors. Thus the whiter a diamond's color, the greater its value.

engagement rings

A diamond's 'clarity' refers to the presence or absence of imperfections on and within the stone.
The fewer the imperfections, the rarer and more valuable the diamond. Imperfections block light from streaming through the diamond and can detract from a diamond's rainbow beauty.

While considering the price factor, always keep in mind the rarity of a diamond. The rarer the stone, more is the price. Let us explain the prices in a relative or comparative manner.

Keep in mind, no two diamonds are ever identical. Always remember that a diamond is nature's gift and it does not come with a price tag nor are two prices identical. You might get different prices from different jewelers depending on their buying patterns, sources and suppliers.

Every Diamond World diamond we sell comes with a certificate that guarantees and documents the quality of your diamond. Without this certificate, you have no proof of the value of your diamond.
Be aware that if you buy a diamond without a certificate, you are trusting the salesperson's claim as to its quality. A trained gemologist or even another jeweler may disagree with that salesperson's assessment. Protect yourself: get a grading report.

On January 1, 2003 many countries around the world have 'Kimberley Process' established by world governments and the diamond industry to eradicate the trade in conflict diamonds. All the diamonds used in our engagement rings, earrings and jewelry are purchased form legitimate sources in compliance with the United Nations resolution. Diamond World does not and will not ever sell conflict diamonds.

What is a conflict diamond?

Conflict diamonds are diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council.
